OCUSD Families, here are ten great parenting tips around discipline having a positive impact on your child!   OES will be hosting Family Education Nights this year, with topics ranging from discipline to helping your child academically, led by the University of Illinois Extension Office. Look for more information on these nights soon.

Any student misconduct on or near a bus which is judged dangerous, distracting, or inappropriate and which therefore jeopardizes the safety of students on the bus will result in disciplinary action.  Below is a general guideline:

1st offense = warning

2nd offense = bus suspension of up to 3 days

3rd offense = bus suspension of up to 10 days

4th offense = suspension from busing up to one year is possible upon board action

Please take this opportunity to discuss with your child the importance of appropriate behavior at all times when on a school bus.  Please note that riding a bus to or from school is a privilege, not a student right.  Students are expected to demonstrate safe and compliant behaviors in order to continue bus privileges.
