Calling all 4-year-olds!

Oregon CUSD #220 is excited to again offer our, no-cost morning/afternoon Pre-K program open to EVERY 4-year old child in the Oregon school district. The program is called Foundations 4 Success.

This preschool program is open to any child who will be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2019, and who does not qualify for our existing Early Childhood preschool program. Unlike the existing Early Childhood program in which students qualify based on risk factors, the Foundations 4 Success preschool program is open to all 4-year old children.

Program Philosophy

The Oregon Elementary Preschool for All Program is an early childhood program that provide services to the most-in-need children aged three to five who live in the Oregon School District.  This program is funded by the Illinois State Board of Education, Preschool for All Grant.

Oregon Elementary Preschool for All Program is based on the philosophy that young children learn best in an environment that affords them the opportunity to explore, discover, and enjoy the learning process. The curriculum is based upon the belief that children need to experience child-directed and teacher-directed activities each day through the use of an integrated curriculum. Children learn best if they have the opportunity to know something in a variety of ways.

Program Mission Statement

The program’s mission statement, developed in collaboration with parents, families, staff members, and community representatives based on shared beliefs is as follows:

Our mission is to provide every child with a quality early childhood experience. We strive to create a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment which fosters individual needs. We believe in empowering children by offering them opportunities to make decisions and solve problems, providing them with a Jump Start in their education.

We believe that education is a partnership between parents and teachers. We believe that to build the foundation of a successful school experience, we must develop a strong relationship between the school and each child and parent that is based on open communication and mutual respect.

Enrollment and Eligibility

Oregon Elementary Preschool for All is a free preschool program for children between the ages of 3 to 5, who are not eligible for Kindergarten, and who live in the Oregon School District.

Prior to enrollment, parents will complete a Family Information Guide and children will participate in a developmental screening. Oregon School District will provide screenings for incoming students in March/April. Screening is also available through the Ogle County Educational Cooperative. Information gathered from the Family Information Guide and results from the developmental screening will be used to determine risk factors of each child.  Children with the highest number of risk factors will be given priority for enrollment.

Once the program is full, a waiting list will be maintained.  If an opening occurs during the school year, the child on the waiting list with the highest number of risk factors will be given first priority for enrollment.

Oregon Elementary Preschool for All accepts all eligible families regardless of race, color, religion, or national origin.
