Students that plan on attending the University of Illinois: The application for the 2018-2019 Children of Veterans Tuition Waiver is now available. This is a four-year, in-state tuition waiver that may be used at any University of Illinois campus (Urbana-Champaign, Chicago, Springfield, or Health Sciences Center).

Each county can award one waiver per conflict and up to three waivers total. Children of veterans of the following conflicts are eligible for the award: World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam Conflict, the Siege of Beirut, the Grenada Conflict, the Southwest Asia Conflict, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Specific information regarding required service dates and medal eligibility is provided on the application. The application also outlines the selection criteria that will be used to determine award winners.

The priority deadline is January 2, 2018. Please note that this deadline is significantly earlier than previous years. Candidates must submit the completed application with photocopies of both the veteran parent’s service papers (DD Form 214 or other official documents) and the student’s ACT or SAT scores to the Office of Student Financial Aid.

All candidates will be notified whether they've been selected to receive the Children of Veterans Tuition Waiver by mail on or around February 6, 2018. If you have any questions, please contact our Office of Student Financial Aid at 217-333-0100 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
