Oregon Elementary School has been recognized as one of BrightSpots Top Schools for Beating The Odds in Literacy Achievement. The 74, is a non-profit newsroom that highlights education across the United States, compared 3rd Grade proficiency data compared to student demographic information. Based on Oregon Elementary School's percentage of students in poverty, it would be expected that only 28% of 3rd graders would be proficient in Reading. OES was recognized because 51.7% of 3rd graders Met/Exceeded on the state standardized assessment. 

"Our staff have worked tremendously hard in recent years to increase student learning outcomes in the area of literacy. The 3rd grade team has consistently set high expectations for student learning and this recognition is well-deserved. OES was one of the only area schools to receieve this recognition which is a testament to the great work going on in our school. " remarked OES Principal Ryan Huels.
