With OES dismissing early today and OJSHS running on the regular schedule, the MyRideK-12 app may send out incorrect drop-off notifications for OJSHS families. To keep things on track, drivers will log in to the Wednesday p.m. routes at each school’s dismissal time. This may result in families receiving multiple notifications. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any confusion this may cause.

PRESS RELEASE: Oregon Elementary School has been named as one of US News and World Report’s Best Elementary Schools, placing them among the top 40% of all elementary schools in the United States. For each state, schools were assessed on their pupils’ proficiencies in mathematics and reading, as measured by state assessment tests. Half of the ranking formula was the results themselves; the other half was the results in the context of socioeconomic demographics. In other words, the top-ranked schools are high achieving ones that succeeded in educating all of their students. U.S. News published distinct elementary and middle school rankings calculated at the state and district levels, as well as state rankings specific to charter schools. All data for the rankings are from third-party sources, including the U.S. Department of Education. This is the 2nd year in a row and only the 2nd time in Oregon Elementary School’s history that the building has earned this recognition. OES Principal Ryan Huels stated “This is an incredible honor for our school and a testament to the incredible work our staff does on a daily basis. To be ranked among the top Elementary Schools in the country and in the same company as districts in Illinois that are much more affluent or have less diverse student populations is something I am incredibly proud of. Our staff continues to work to provide the best possible educational experience for the OCUSD community and I am glad they are getting the recognition they deserve.”. Thank you to the entire OCUSD #220 community for their continued efforts and support in our pursuit of excellence in all that we do. Please join us in congratulating the staff and students of Oregon Elementary School for this remarkable achievement.

Ms. Bella Doll has been with Oregon as an Elementary Art Teacher for the past three years. She is currently in a masters program, but besides that she enjoys hiking and photography. She says that there have been a lot of firsts for her here at Oregon, and that she loves getting to grow as a teacher alongside her students. Oregon has been her first teaching experience and she is thankful for all the support that she has gotten on her journey here. She states, "Oregon has been a very welcoming place for me as a new teacher and I've really enjoyed my time here so far." Overall her experience of Oregon has been amazing, and she says that she really enjoys learning about how much of an impact she has had on students not just in her classroom, but throughout the day. She also says she really enjoys when Mr. Huels puts on his costumes and dresses up for the kiddos. Ms. Doll would like her students to know "that they can make mistakes because we are here to learn. The power to learn is awesome, and not every day is going to be perfect so don't take anything for granted." Ms. Doll has been an excellent addition to our staff and we are proud that she chose us. This past Tuesday, the students from Mrs. Huels’ Kindergarten class at Oregon Elementary School had the opportunity to visit the residents of Allure of Pinecrest in Mount Morris. Through this special intergenerational program, students and seniors come together to build meaningful connections and share joyful experiences. It’s often said that a picture is worth a thousand words, and the shining smiles captured during this visit say it all. Hearts were full, laughter was shared, and friendships were formed — proving that age is no barrier when it comes to kindness and connection. A heartfelt thank you to Gingersnapps Photography for volunteering her time and talent to capture these precious moments. Her photos beautifully reflect the spirit of Project Generations — where friendship truly knows no age.
