Profile of a Graduate
At Oregon CUSD 220, we believe that preparing students for life beyond school means cultivating a well-rounded set of competencies. Our Profile of a Graduate reflects five essential skill areas that ensure students are not only academically capable, but also socially, emotionally, and professionally prepared to thrive in a dynamic world.
Throughout the 2023–2024 school year, Oregon Junior/Senior High School identified key graduate competencies through a comprehensive process that included surveys of students, families, alumni, and community members. In addition, multiple focus groups were held with diverse stakeholders including educators, school leaders, community college partners, board members, local employers, parents, and students. The resulting competencies are uniquely tailored to reflect the values, needs, and aspirations of the Oregon community and its students:
1. Responsible Problem Solver & Critical Thinker
Graduates apply their knowledge to real-world situations by seeking evidence, exploring new ideas, and making thoughtful, informed decisions. They weigh options carefully and use reasoned analysis to solve complex problems.
2. Leader & Collaborator
Graduates actively contribute to team success by owning group outcomes and engaging in constructive feedback. They understand when to collaborate and when to lead, while maintaining a civic-minded and community-oriented mindset.
3. Life Ready & Personally Responsible
Graduates demonstrate personal responsibility through strong decision-making, time management, and financial literacy. They prioritize their well-being, manage their time productively, and maintain a clear, future-focused mindset.
4. Resilient & Adaptable Learner
Graduates embrace challenges and demonstrate perseverance in the face of adversity. They maintain a growth mindset, pursue continuous learning, and grow through personal and professional experiences.
5. Effective Communicator
Graduates express themselves clearly and purposefully through speaking, writing, reading, and listening. They resolve conflicts respectfully, engage empathetically with others, and navigate digital spaces with responsibility and integrity.
