Dear Oregon Families,

Our Transportation Department is putting the finishing touches on bus routes for the upcoming school year, and we wanted to let you know when and where you can access your student's transportation information.

Starting today, your student's bus route information will be available through both the PowerSchool Parent Portal and the MyRide K-12 app. Attached are step-by-step instructions for accessing transportation information using either option.

When you review your student's transportation information, please note that pickup and drop-off times may continue to be adjusted as routes are finalized and students are added. We encourage all families to double-check route information the day before school begins to ensure you have the most up-to-date details.

If you experience any issues logging into PowerSchool, please contact your child's school office for assistance.

If you have questions about your student's bus route or need to request a transportation change after reviewing your information, please contact our Transportation Department:

Phone: (815) 732-5300 ext. 4030, 4031, or 4032
Email: Transportation@ocusd.net

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we finalize routes for the new school year. We know that reliable transportation is an important part of a successful start, and our team is working hard to ensure every student has a safe and efficient ride to and from school.

We look forward to welcoming our students back soon and wish everyone a fantastic start to the school year!

Graphic announcing that Oregon CUSD 220 student bus route information is now available. A large yellow school bus appears on the right side of the graphic with the headline, "Your Student's Bus Route Information is Now Available!" Families are informed that bus route information can be accessed in two ways: through the PowerSchool Parent Portal or the MyRide K-12 app. The graphic reminds families to review their student's route information and notes that pickup and drop-off times may change as routes are finalized. A prominent reminder encourages families to check their student's transportation information again the day before school begins. The graphic includes brief instructions for both access methods. For PowerSchool, families are directed to log in, select "Transportation Information," and view the student's route name, pickup and drop-off times, bus stop location, and scheduled transportation days. For the MyRide K-12 app, families are instructed to download the app, select Oregon CUSD 220, register or sign in, add their student using the student ID number, and view transportation information. Additional app features include sharing transportation access with another parent or guardian, receiving district transportation notifications, and automatic app updates. A contact panel provides Transportation Department assistance at (815) 732-5300, ext. 4030, 4031, or 4032, or by email at Transportation@ocusd.net. The graphic concludes with a message thanking families for their patience and partnership and wishing everyone a great school year. The Oregon CUSD 220 logo appears in the lower-right corner.

A Piece of Oregon History Rises Again for America's 250th Anniversary
OREGON, IL
— A cherished piece of Oregon High School history is returning to service as the school's original 1936 flagpole is restored and rededicated through a project envisioned and coordinated by Facilities Director Bill Nesemeier.
When Oregon High School was built in 1936, a 42’ tall flagpole was installed directly in front of the building, centered between the front pillars and aligned with the street. For generations, it stood as a symbol of school pride, patriotism, and tradition.
In the summer of 2013, the original flagpole was removed as part of campus improvements. A newer flagpole near the Jefferson Street entrance became the school's primary flag display. The removal was overseen by Nesemeier, who believed the historic flagpole was too important to discard. Instead, it was preserved and stored.
There the flagpole remained for 13 years, out of sight but not forgotten.
When recent upgrades were made to the Oregon High School baseball field, plans called for the installation of a flagpole at the improved facility. Nesemeier saw the project as the perfect opportunity to bring the original flagpole back to life.
After carefully brainstorming and planning the restoration, Nesemeier enlisted the help of Kort & Cade Bertsch, Ted Fritz, Brian Wolber & Craig Cunningham. Together, they all had a part in restoring the nearly 90-year-old flagpole and prepared it for a new chapter of service.
The rededication is planned for around the Independence Day holiday, making the occasion especially meaningful as the nation celebrates its Semiquincentennial—the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
What once stood proudly in front of Oregon High School will once again fly the American flag, serving as a reminder of the generations of students, staff, and community members who have been part of the school's history since 1936.
Thanks to the vision, dedication, and teamwork of those involved, a treasured piece of Oregon High School's past has been preserved for future generations.

As we wrap up Week 4 of our summer crew, our buildings are really starting to shine!

Nearly all classrooms have been deep cleaned and had their floors refinished. We've also received and stored 10 pallets of paper, deep cleaned the Jr High gym bleachers, and begun refinishing hallways throughout the district.

I can't thank this crew enough for their hard work, dedication, and attention to detail. There is still plenty to accomplish before students and staff return, but I have no doubt our buildings will be in amazing shape and ready to welcome everyone back on Day 1.

Thank you to our summer crew for all you do!
